Let’s do this well together!

“ The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” John Chapter 1 verse 5

What a difference one hour makes! Last night we put our clocks forward an hour as we officially enter British Summertime. So when we walked our dog on the beach this morning at 6.30 am, it was the same level of darkness that was there yesterday at 5.30 am, more or less. This meant that for the first time in ages, I was at the beach as the sun was rising.

The retreating fingers of night cloud were tinged with a rose gold glitter of the approaching day. As day arrived, the sky filled with pale sherbet colours, and gradually the light overtook the darkness.

Since this is Sunday, perhaps you will forgive me if my post is more overtly Christian today. Seeing the dawn made me think of the Star in the East which heralded the birth of Jesus. It is said that this awful virus COVID-19 has come to us from China, in the east, and its darkness has spread across the whole earth. But the Star of the East brought us news of a greater light coming into the world than a thousand suns and that is the Light of Life, Jesus, our Messiah.

If you are feeling overwhelmed by the darkness of this crisis, I pray today that you will let Jesus the Light of the World into your life. He will dispel the darkness and bring you hope and peace.
